Evaluation of Peculiar People by Writer's Digest

"You've set up a great dual storyline in this book. It's difficult to tie two plots together in a way that they are similar which is the reason you're telling them together, and yet unique to their specific time period. However, I thought this book was laid out well between historical and current day. You've made Tess a realistic, 3-dimensional character. The reader has no problem in following Tess and understanding her motivations for what she does. Additionally, you've done a good job of shifting back and forth between times without jarring the reader. The reader is easily able to follow the different narrative voices and keep track of where he/she is. (April 2004)
