8. James Jayne was born about 1821 in New York or ENGLAND. He lived in Waymart, Wayne Co., Pennsylvania on 4 August 1870. On the 1900 and 1910 U.S. Census, William A(ustin) Jayne, then living Canaan (Wayne County) Pennsylvania, listed both his father and mother as born in England. The 1870 Census includes a James Jayne, then 48 (Farmer), living in Wayne (Wayne County) Pennsylvania with Emma O. Jayne (age 27, "keeping house") and Seth Jayne (age 44, "Laborer"). Emma may be James' daughter and Seth his brother. James' birthplace is listed as New York.

If James Jayne was born in England, there is only one possible identification in immigration records: "James Jane" who departed from Belfast, Northern Ireland on the Vestula, arriving in New York City on May 27, 1839. /Unknown/ (__?__) and James Jayne were married about 1842.
